Our Parish

St Mark’s Church has joyfully been a part of the City of Darebin since December 1974 when the late Fr Victor Rophael OAM of blessed memory, established Melbourne's second Coptic Orthodox parish under the name of St Mark in the suburb of Northcote at a rented bluestone Uniting Church on High St.

The parish stayed there and outgrew the space until August 1986, when a parcel of land was purchased on Gilbert Rd, Preston to construct the first built Coptic Orthodox Church in Victoria. Construction was completed in July 1990 and the late His Holiness Pope Shenouda III of blessed memory, together with six visiting Bishops consecrated the newly built church on Sunday 24 February 1991.

Since then our parish has grown and flourished and continued to engage with the local and wider community through many renown annual community festivals and weekly food drives for the poor and underprivileged within the City of Darebin.

We ask you to keep our parish in your prayers!
