by the Primary Sunday School Servants
Today we are missing Tunt Alice Mikhail, someone who loved serving the Sunday School children and helping them learn and grow in their faith. Someone who loved to learn the stories, psalms and hymns alongside the children. Someone who would always attend weekly service, cheering on each child and being so proud of them for all they had achieved and learned each week.
Her life was a life of ultimate service. She never failed to serve generations of kids at St Mark’s Sunday School, served at every Fete, volunteered at the Coptic Radio station, selflessly visited the other servants, always bringing a plate of food to share, and she helped in excursions, sleepovers, plays, and the list goes on. Even during the lockdown, she attended each and every Zoom Sunday School lesson and it was clear that she was so happy to see all of the kids’ faces each week. All of these were done with a generous heart and a genuine smile on her face. She loved serving others.
"For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another" - Galatians 5:13
She took every opportunity to grow in her knowledge of God’s word by attending conventions and spiritual retreats. Her actions spoke just as loud as her words when it came to imitating Christ in everything she did, she was always an example of how to be a true Christian.
She was a mother to all of the youth and children at St Mark’s and greatly loved by all. She treated anyone that she came across as part of her family, helping in any way she could. Our church community has lost someone truly special who touched so many people’s lives and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
